If you prefer hiking, you might consider a hike across the alpine pastures above St. Jakob am Thurn. Also quite unique is the historical Schützentanz in St. Jakob am Thurn, a dance performed annually by the Jakobischützen at the traditional St. James’s Fair held on the last Sunday in July. Every weekend in Advent, the stands of the local Advent market in St. Jakob am Thurn open for business next to the pilgrimage church of Saint James the Greater. Living traditions such as incense burning, the visit of Saint Nicholas and the Krampus parade on 5 December are all part of the Salzburger Advent festivities here in Puch.
