Fun and Adventure on the Zinkenkogel
Find it hard to imagine a more marvelous excursion destination? Me, too! Hardly any wonder, when you consider that the Keltenblitz Alpine Slide, boasting a total length of more than two kilometers, is also the longest of its kind in the entire Austrian province of Salzburg. Get ready for a spectacular ride!
Awaiting you on the Zinkenkogel…
“Keltenblitz” Alpine Slide
On the Zinkenkogel in Hallein/Bad Dürrnberg in the Tennengau region of Salzburg, fun and adventure go hand-in-hand. Up there, at more than 1200 meters above sea level, lies one of the top excursion destinations of the Tennengau region: the Keltenblitz Alpine Slide. Promising all-out enjoyment and an exhilarating ride for the whole family. As an added bonus: the astonishing panorama of the Salzburg mountains.
Thrilling rides from the top of the Zinkenkogel
The sleds await you and the fun can begin. Perched on these yellow sleds, you will glide more than 2200 meters down the mountainside at speeds as much as 40 kilometers per hour – through an underpass and two bridges, exciting straightaways and banked curves. If you prefer to take things a little easier, you can always ride the chairlift from the Zinkenkogel in Hallein/Bad Dürrnberg back to the valley. Why not double your fun! As soon as you reach the valley, hop right back on the chairlift and get ready for your second exciting sledding adventure.
How to reach the Keltenblitz on the Zinkenkogel
The Keltenblitz Alpine Slide is located on the Dürrnberg just outside Hallein. Simply leave your car on the car park next to the valley station of the Zinken Lifts and let the fun begin! The No. 41 bus will also bring you to the Zinken Lifts. And don’t forget: With the Tennengau Ticket, in combination with a valid TennengauPLUS-Card, you get to ride the buses & trains in Tennengau for free.
Let’s head for the mountains!
To reach the mountain station, you can either hike up or take the Zinken Lift itself, a double chairlift that will carry you from bottom to top in no time at all. If you decide on a hike, the best place to begin is the Zinken Lift car park. From there, a hike taking approximately one hour will lead you up the mountainside, in some cases right next to the Alpine Slide itself. Especially for families with children, a hike on the Zinkenkogel is ideal since the route up the mountain generally takes you via forestry roads.
Having reached your goal, the first thing to do is enjoy the wonderful scenery. Which is particularly fascinating on the Zinkenkogel in Hallein/Bad Dürrnberg. The panorama extends from the Untersberg to the Dachstein West hiking paradise in Lammertal, and across the mountain world of Salzburg as well as Berchtesgaden. From up there, you can even catch a glimpse of Salzburg City.
Tips from Cleverix for your trip to the Alpine Slide:
- For safety reasons, the Alpine Slide as well as the Zinken Lifts only operate in good weather.
- Children under six get to ride on the same sled as a parent.
- In winter, the Zinkenkogel is a small, yet popular ski area that is ideal for families especially!
- With the TennengauPLUS-Card, you pay a discounted fare for the ride up and down the mountain!
