This is a highlight for younger hikers in particular, the goal being to count as many of the small hearts located along the path as possible. So boredom is for sure never an issue as you hike the Mill Path in Scheffau in the Tennengau.
From the Old Mill to the Torrential Waterfall
On this theme path in Lammertal, you will be able to experience the nature and water of Tennengau up close. Thanks to the Schwarzenbach, but also the historic Old Mill – a grain mill dating back to the 17th century, which was into operation until the year 1958. From the trail, you can actually see the water pouring down from the stream. Your walk now continues to the Winner Waterfall, where the water thunders into the depths below. From a viewing point where you can gaze out at the imposing Tennengebirge, the family hike now leads back to where you started. You can either simply backtrack or return along the forestry road. Directly next to the Herzart craft shop you can find an authentic replica of a Marble Mill.
Please note: The Mill Path is suitable for prams/strollers until you reach the hill leading up to the waterfall.
Marvel at the natural spectacle up close: On the mill circuit trail, you can watch from a beautiful path along the river how the water masses of the Schwarzenbach plunge into the depths all year round.
The stunning Winner waterfall
Especially at the time of snowmelt in spring or during thunderstorms and cloudbursts in summer, the raging spray emerges from the cave portal and then plunges into the depths with a loud roar.
You should schedule around 1.5 hours for this family-friendly theme hike in Lammertal. Your adventure begins at the car park in Oberscheffau, where you can also leave your vehicle. You will find a bus stop at the nearby Gasthof Lammerklause. Holidaymakers in the Tennengau should make good use of the TennengauPLUS-Card for free bus & train travel throughout the region.
