In the Ghost Forest in Russbach, hiking becomes a true adventure. Along this family-friendly theme path, young explorers help the forest spirits find their lost treasures. Along the way, children discover wooden ball tracks, play stations, funny ghost figures and mysterious places in the middle of lush nature.
In Russbach, in the middle of the Dachstein West hiking region, something mysterious is happening: the forest monster has raided the forest spirit’s hut. Now the brave forest spirits need help finding their lost treasures. And this is exactly where your adventure for children and families begins.
The path leads from one station to the next. You test your skills, solve exciting puzzles and discover the forest in a playful way. One special highlight are the forest marble runs. On the way to the Ghost Forest, you pass a veding machine where you can get your wooden ball. Please note, that you will need a €2-coin, as there is no pissibility to change money on site.
The Ghost Forest is full of little surprises. In the Forest Spirits’ Village, imaginative little houses are waiting to be discovered. At the pond of Spuklinde, the guardian of the pond, self-made boats can be launched into the water, while Andy Woodhole’s studio invites children to get creative.
The varied play stations turn the hike into an entertaining experience where fun, games and nature come together for hikers big and small. Along the way, quiet resting places and benches invite you to pause, relax and enjoy the surroundings.

When dusk settles over the Ghost Forest, a very special adventure begins for children and families. Together, you explore the forest at night, listen to cheerful forest-spirit stories and discover what can be found between the trees, paths and lights after dark.
The hike is exciting, joyful and designed especially for children. It’s a little mysterious, but not too scary – a magical evening in the Ghost Forest awaits you.
Dates: in July and August, every Tuesday
Meeting point: 8:30 pm at the Ghost Forest hiking car park
Duration: approx. 2 hours
Price: €5,- with the Tennengau guest card, € 10,- without guest card
Included: torches for adults and children, wooden ball for children
