Awaiting you along the theme path…
A very special excursion destination for families
In Annaberg-Lungötz in Tennengau, SalzburgerLand, you will discover a truly special excursion destination for families with children: the Hay-Figure Path – one of the top excursion destinations in Lammertal. A four kilometers-long hiking path through the pristine countryside of Annaberg inside the Dachstein West hiking area. On this pram-friendly pathway, especially on sunny days, you will be able to marvel at numerous artworks made of hay, which once graced beautifully decorated floats that took part in the Lammertaler HeuART Fest. Now, they put a happy gleam in the eyes of visitors, big and small, to the Dachstein West hiking area.
HeuART Hike in Tennengau
Anyone who has ever attended the Lammertal HeuART-Fest, the world’s biggest parade of its kind, will readily confirm: When it comes to their loving attention to every detail and artistry, the hay figures simply cannot be surpassed. Hour-upon-hour of work by hand and tons of fragrant hay went into creating these incomparable pieces: including a traditional Madonna, the Dachstein Weiberl, the Hay Worm Lu-An and more.
The starting point of the Hay-Figure Path is the town center of Annaberg in the Tennengau. From there, you will enjoy a four-kilometer stroll out to the Kopflacke. Aside from the fascinating hay figures, in nice weather you will also be able to make the most of numerous play areas. The legends associated with the Kopflackenmann and Dachstein Weiberl are also certain to entertain you.
Gaudi-Golf on the Kopfberg
For those of you who love minigolf, I have a special excursion tip for you: Gaudi-Golf. You will begin your round at the Salzburger Dolomitenhof. The joys of a family hike meet twelve Gaudi-Golf “holes” made of wood, some easy, some a little trickier. With the panorama of the Gosaukamm and Bischofsmütze constantly before your eyes, this day trip between Annaberg and Lungötz is certain to be unforgettable.
For a full round of Gaudi-Golf, you will need to allow anywhere from one to three hours. The blue – easier – course is played along a section of the Hay-Figure Path, combining the best of both worlds. The slightly more difficult, orange variant is longer and steeper, though also suitable for all generations.
Clubs, balls and score cards can all be borrowed (for a small fee) from the Salzburger Dolomitenhof. After completing the fun challenges of the Fox, the Coat of Arms and the Bread Oven, you will be able to keep your ball as a souvenir.
How to reach the Hay-Figure Path and Gaudi-Golf Course
If you travel here by car, you will find numerous parking spaces in the town center of Annaberg. If you want to play a round of Gaudi-Golf, drive straight to the Salzburger Dolomitenhof, where there is also plenty of parking available. Arriving on public transportation? In that case, the Tennengau-Ticket is just what you need. Travel the length and breadth of Tennengau for just four euros. The Hay-Figure Path may be enjoyed between May and October.
