In the museum, you will learn all about how Adnet marble was created, how it was quarried and how it was processed. Enjoyable museum visit for explorers big and small
The Marble Museum was established almost 30 years ago – in 1992 – completely remodeled in 2010 and relocated to the Adnet Village Hall, today one of the top excursion destinations in Tennengau. In 2014, this family-friendly museum, located just five kilometers from Hallein, was awarded the Austrian Museum Seal of Quality.
The Museum
Exhibition rooms covering more than 100 square meters guarantee a variety-filled and utterly engaging experience. Fun and games await in the lovingly designed museum garden, which will put a sparkle in the eyes of smaller visitors especially. Also fossils and geological peculiarities of the region are presented in attractive exhibits. The “icing on the cake”: archaeological finds from Adnet and original artefacts from Roman times to the Middle Ages.
Marble Path in Adnet
After your visit to the museum, it will be time to continue your marble investigations out in the open air. Your best way to do that is the Marble Path. This particular walk is easy for all family members and takes roughly two hours. With the help of interesting info boards, you and your children will pick up intriguing facts about this exquisite rock from SalzburgerLand: including various forms of marble as well as objects that can be manufactured from it.
Fit & Active through the Adnet Marble Quarries
Along the Marble Path, fitness fans will also discover a fitness park with various types of equipment for a healthy dose of outdoor exercise. Children will find 13 exciting Adventure Stations offering a variety of different activities. And as a refreshing conclusion, how about a visit to the Kneipp-therapy ponds at the Gesundheitsbründl www.fitundbewegt.at.
Arrival
The Marble Museum is located at the village hall in Adnet in the heart of the Tennengau region in Salzburg province. You can leave your car on the car park right in front of the village hall. If you wish to visit the Marble Path, it is best to use the car park behind the parsonage, just beyond the parish church.
Tip: If you plan to arrive by public transport, be sure to make use of the TennengauPLUS-Card. It offers you free bus & rail travel throughout the Tennengau.
