The Cheese Pleasure Route

The Cheese Pleasure Route leads along mostly flat cycle paths for around 30 kilometres through the villages of Kuchl, Golling, Bad Vigaun and Adnet. Along the way, cyclists gain insights into cheese – from high-quality production to the wide variety of regional cheese specialities.

Several culinary stops focus on cheese and its production. Highlights include the organic farm dairy Bio-Hofkäserei Fürstenhof in Kuchl, the Naturthek and the farm dairy Schmiedbauer in Bad Vigaun, the dairy Pötzelsberger in Adnet and selected GenussWirtshäuser.

Salt & Lakes Tour

Follow the traces of salt along the Salt & Lakes Tour. This circular route covers 52 kilometres and leads from the bustling city of Hallein via Golling, Adnet and Puch to some of the most scenic spots in the Salzach Valley in Tennengau.

A worthwhile starting point is the historic old town of Hallein, known for its long salt-mining history. Along the route, traditional inns, farm shops and regional producers invite you to take a culinary break.

For added variety, the tour includes popular excursion destinations such as the Golling Waterfall, the idyllic Bluntau valley and natural swimming spots and lakes, ideal for cooling off on warm summer days.

Nature Experience Tour & Water Adventure Tour

The Nature Experience Tour is 21 kilometres long and leads from the marble village of Adnet (with the well-known dairy Dorfkäserei Pötzelsberger and the Marble Museum) via Puch and St. Jakob am Thurn, returning via Adnet to Oberalm.

The Water Adventure Tour covers 41 kilometres and runs from Golling via Kuchl, the Bluntau valley, Pass Lueg and Scheffau, before returning to Golling. Along the route, numerous excursion destinations and culinary places to stop await.

Tauern Cycle Path – From Krimml to Passau

The Tauern Cycle Path is one of the best-knwon cycling routes in the alpine region and passes through Tennengau on an particularly scenic section. Entry is possible directly in Golling. From here, the route follows the Salzach river through several Tennengau villages such as Kuchl, Hallein, Oberalm and Puch St. Jakob, continuing towards the city of Salzburg and on to Passau.

At around 270 km in total, the cycling route connects the waterfalls of the Hohe Tauern National Park near Krimml with the three-river city of Passau. In Tennengau region, the Tauern Cycle Path is especially family-friendly, with well-developded paths, mostly flat sections and numerous rest areas.

Along the way, varied landscapes, historic towns and a wide range of attractions ensure diverse and enjoyable stages. Culinary stops in inns, cafés and farm shops – as well as many excursion destinations – make this section particularly rewarding.
