Regardless of the season, enjoy extended walks and some truly great hikes. The Marterlweg in Oberalm leads from town via the Hellabründl in the direction of Wiestal, taking you past various wayside crosses (so-called “Marterl”) and small chapels, all of which have their own story to tell.
Whether sporty or laid-back – discover the new Löwenstern Park for your workout after a full, strenuous day, or simply spend relaxing moments there with your whole family.
“Where the peacefulness of nature and colorful culture come face to face…”
“Schrannentisch”
In Oberalm, you will discover one of the few “Schrannentische” in all of SalzburgerLand still preserved close to its original condition – known as the “Oberalmer Thaidingtisch”.
The Schrannentisch and linden tree, symbols of Oberalm
Be sure to visit this original stone table topped with an unfinished marble slab, standing beneath an old linden tree close to the church. The tree and this table are both emblems of Oberalm, whilst the table itself is actually a listed monument.
Until the beginning of the 19th century, the table was the focal point of local jurisdiction where, since time immemorial, the law of the land had been proclaimed and justice had been administered. You will also find the Schrannentisch and the linden tree on the town coat of arms.
Culture in Oberalm
A wide variety of events associated with the Kultur.Werkstatt and PalmKlang festival one week before Easter are a source of excitement and anticipation for concert- and theater-goers as well as the PalmKlang musicians themselves.
The renovated Filzhofgütl (a former old farmhouse) is very popular as the location for romantic civil wedding ceremonies.
