New Year's Eve

After the contemplative Christmas season, it's time to welcome in the New Year with rockets and fireworks!  Volleys are fired in the air to bid farewell to the old year, while at midnight the Blue Danube Waltz sounds out from al the radios and loudspeakers.

Epiphany - Star Singers

Until January 6, the three Magi continue to roam the land.  This is an ancient Austrian tradition, with boys and girls going from house to house, singing songs, spreading the news of Jesus' birth and sharing blessings and a message of peace for the coming year.  At the same time, the so-called "Star Singers" also collect charitable contributions for people in Third World countries.

Fasching - the silly season

There's no more fun time of year than Fasching.  Countless balls and processions provide a perfect excuse to dress up, party and dance.  Consult the events calendar for exact dates and times!
