Return of Cattle &  Harvest Festival

After a summer spent in the hills, the return of cattle to the valley marks a special day for the farmers. In those places where the cattle are not yet brought home by tractors, the animals are decked out in all their "finery".  The lead cow, in addition to the embroidered leather strap it wears about its neck, also sports colorful bespangled adornments, including flowers and mirrors etc.  The bull is outfitted with a beribboned crown of spruce.

"It's time to head off to Harvest Festival!" - words you hear throughout the Tennengau as the region's restaurants, farmers, heritage associations and artisans present us with their traditions, tasty dishes and that wonderfully cool Harvest Festival Beer.  Harvest Festival celebrations are held in Bad Vigaun and Kuchl!
