Tauglbach Trail to the Roman Bridge
The Taugl Gorge near Bad Vigaun hides beneath the peaks of the Schmittenstein, Schlenken and Rengerberg. The lower area, known as the "Tauglgries", is a broad bed of gravel as much as 100 m wide, where you can take a refreshing dip during the summer!
Leaving the village square in Bad Vigaun, take the village road for about 200 m and then make a left. At this point, you have the opportunity to incorporate the fitness trail (with 20 exercise stations) in your hike. You will also find a playground there. You will then continue to the right of the Tauglbach as far as the Roman Bridge Natural Monument, the oldest preserved bridge in the entire SalzburgerLand. You should pay special attention to the info boards about the river ford and one-time execution site, the wooden dam, along with interesting facts about the Roman Bridge Natural Monument and Tauglgries Nature Preserve. The area by the Waldmeisterbrunnen is a great place to enjoy a well-earned rest. The view out towards the Predigtstuhl, a mighty and overhanging conglomerate rock right on the hiking path, is particularly impressive. |
