The Bluntau Valley near Golling is a popular excursion destination. At one time, the then heir to the throne, Franz Ferdinand, came here to hunt. The valley is easy to explore, even when you are pushing a pram, or you might prefer to ride your bikes instead. Along the way, you can experience nature in a variety of ways - enjoy a picnic on the river bank, watch the fish swimming in the lake, listen to the birds in the forest, walk to the waterfall behind the Bärenwirt, and hike out all the way to the Jochalm.
Refreshment stops: the Gasthof Göllhof at the entrance to the Bluntau, or the Gasthof Bärenwirt at the valley's end.
During the summer, cars are kept out of the valley on weekends - visitors will have to drive to the Bärenwirt before 10 a.m. and can only drive off again after 5:00 p.m. Horse-drawn carriage rides are also offered. |
