Harvest Festival Highlight in Tennengau: HayART in Lammertal
Every year on the last Sunday in August, the world's largest hay figure parade at HayART Festival in the Lammertal Valley is an exciting event for thousands of visitors from all over Europe. Numerous local artists and clubs spend weeks in preparation making the hay bale sculptures.
Hay in the province of Salzburg
Elaborately decorated carts are pulled by Noric and Haflinger horses and vintage tractors for the parade. The works of hay art are accompanied by music and performers in traditional costume from the Tennengau region of Salzburg.
The annual framework programme of the HayART Festival is characterised by variety! Craftsmen such as gamsbart (chamois hair tuft decoration) alpine hat makers, instrument makers and shingle makers give insight into long-forgotten arts.
